NYC/CCC&St. L - New York Central/Big Four, Whitewater Division - Indiana & Ohio, Brookville Subdivision
Underneath the Dry Fork Creek bridge, looking north. This is the first intermediate support for the aqueduct. Note the slots in the stone that held wooden struts to brace the wooden aqueduct above. Also note that the stone for the railroad to the left is different. The towpath bridge was likely wood with simple wood piles that were replaced when the railroad was built in the 1860s. The somewhat haphazard stone between the railroad girder and the concrete road bridge support may be from the CL&A truss bridge, which would have straddled both the old aqueduct pier and the newer railroad pier.
