Historic photo of the Miami & Erie Canal between Main and Sycamore looking east at the same bridge and building from the previous photo. The Alms & Doepke store is at the left and an early electric streetcar is on the Sycamore Street bridge over the canal. The building in the background was originally the Helmers-Bettman, later Bettman-Dunlap shoe company factory. The building was designed by Samuel Hannaford and construction started in 1904 and finished sometime in 1905. The easternmost wing of the Alms & Doepke department store was built in 1906, and since the canal boat appears to sill be in use, this pis probably not long after that date.
