Miami & Erie Canal and Cincinnati Subway
0236_IMG_3951
Miami & Erie Canal overflow channel under the Miamisburg & Carrollton Hydraulic near West Main and Weir Street in West Carrollton, looking southwest along the Great Miami River Recreational Trail. The overflow channel at the bottom was presumably built as an outlet for a couple of small creeks that flowed into the Miami & Erie. The hydraulic was built in 1867 to provide additional water to the Miami & Erie for paper mills in Miamisburg. The aqueduct appears to have been made of earth and stone, not unlike a box culvert. The rubble scattered around the channel is probably what's left of it.
