Cincinnati Roads & Viaducts
0012_OtherTransitItems-5
The Hopple Street Viaduct, looking east from Beekman Street in Fairmount. The piers from the original 1914 viaduct remain, but a new, wider deck was installed in the 1980s. This new deck is also higher, to allow double-stacked rail cars to pass beneath (this is why the Union Terminal Concourse was demolished, because it was too low for these rail cars). The streetcar line that ran on the viaduct terminated here at Beekman Street with a wye, although nothing remains to see.
