Cincinnati Roads & Viaducts
0017_OtherTransitItems-7
West 5th Street, looking west towards Freeman Avenue. The industrial area in this part of town still has some old Belgian block paved streets. There was a streetcar line on this road, yet no tracks remain. By the time the streetcar lines were being abandoned, concrete and asphalt were becoming common for paving roads. It seems odd that this paving would be repaired after the tracks were removed, rather than simply paving over it with new asphalt. Regardless, it's a handsome material, and a good example of historic paving.
